May Environmental & Community Horticulture Programs

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental & Community Horticulture Programs for May 2016. These programs are being offered by Denise DeBusk, Environmental & Community Horticulture Agent, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 NE 39 Avenue, Gainesville).

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ - Groundcovers and Turf Alternatives - May 5, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This program teaches about groundcover plants that will grow in the shade, full sun, and in tough places.

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ - Planting for Conserving Water - May 10, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This program teaches the best drought-tolerant plants that can be planted in landscapes to conserve water. Planting, establishment, and tips for saving water will also be covered.

Maintaining your Citrus Tree - May 26, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This program teaches how to maintain oranges, tangerines, lemons, and grapefruit trees in backyards. Also covers variety selection, fertilization, freeze protection, and pest control.

There is no cost to attend these classes, but space is limited. Pre-register at least three days before class by calling 352-337-6209 (voice mail).
