ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – Visit Gainesville, the Visitors and Conventions Bureau (VCB) for Alachua County, is holding a mandatory grant workshop for those applying for Tourism Product Development (TPD) Grants. The workshop is on Monday, July 11, 2016, at 9 a.m., at the Freedom Community Center (7340 S.W. 41st Place, Gainesville). This workshop is an opportunity for prospective applicants to review and address questions regarding the grant.

Through the TPD grant, The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners (Board), with the assistance of recommendations from the Tourist Development Council (TDC) and the County Manager, awards Tourist Development Tax funds for the purpose of promoting tourism and for promoting the arts, culture, and nature in Alachua County. Tourist Development Tax funds are governed by State Statute 125.0104.

Arts, culture, and nature-based organizations (not-for-profit and governmental) that operate within the boundaries of Alachua County are eligible to apply.

The application, recently approved by the Board, is posted on the Visit Gainesville website. Applications may be downloaded, and will be provided at the mandatory workshop.

All proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope with an outside label marked "Alachua County Cultural, Heritage and Nature-Based Tourism Grant Program," and delivered no later than 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016, to the attention of:
