Second Joint BOCC/LPA Workshop on Comp. Plan Update

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners is holding the second joint special meeting with the Local Planning Agency to review draft amendments to the County’s Comprehensive Plan to implement the recommendations adopted by the County Commission in the Evaluation and Appraisal Report last August. The meeting is scheduled for June 1, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in the Jack Durrance Auditorium on the second floor of the County Administration Building (12 SE 1st Street, Gainesville) and may also be viewed on the County’s Video on Demand website live or any time thereafter. A third meeting is scheduled for June 15th at 5:30 p.m. if needed. 

These special meetings are in preparation for public hearings with the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners that will be scheduled later this summer.

Several topics were covered at the first joint meeting on May 18th. Remaining topics for discussion on June 1st include a new Energy Element, policies on air quality, agriculture and local food systems, standards for Activity Centers, open space for mixed used development in the Urban Cluster, update of the Economic Element and related policies for Industrial uses and economic development and environmental stewardship in East Gainesville.
