ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – Alachua County Fire Rescue Chief Ed Bailey reported that there is a fire burning at the 3500 block of SE Hawthorne Road. The material burning includes many old tires. It is producing an abundance of black smoke that may alarm some citizens. The fire, set accidently, and is under control but the smoke may persist for some time.
