ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Transportation Disadvantaged Coordinating Board (TDCB) has received the 2012 Outstanding Coordinating Board of the Year Award from the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged (FCTD). Alachua County Commission Chairperson Paula M. DeLaney is the Chairperson of the TDCB.

According to the FCTD, the purpose of the award is to recognize a coordinating board that has demonstrated their dedication and support of the local service delivery system. The criteria for consideration are leadership of the board, oversight of costs, evaluation of the Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC), handling of grievances or other extraordinary efforts. Consideration will also be given to those boards that have had representation at Commission sponsored training and other events.
At the award presentation the following was stated:
The Alachua County Local Coordinating Board holds a very important role in the success of the coordinated system in Alachua County. The members, representing state and local agencies and citizens, have done an excellent job providing guidance to MV Transportation on the provision of transportation services as the Community Transportation Coordinator.
Having an active membership allows critical service decisions to be implemented in a timely manner, keeping in mind the best interest of the community.
Board Members understand the transportation needs of the disabled, the transportation disadvantaged community, and what the CTC faces on a daily basis. Members review reports and challenge the CTC with questions that inspire MV to strive to provide the most cost efficient, safest, reliable, and on time service within the State of Florida.
