Attention Media and Citizens:  Please note the two important items under the Public Hearing section of the meetings – Archer Braid Trail and Transportation Surtax.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Commission will conduct their twice-monthly Regular Meeting/Public Hearing on Tuesday April 24, 2012.  The Regular Meeting begins at 9 a.m. and the Public Hearing begins at 5 p.m.  Both meetings are in the Jack Durrance Auditorium (Room 209) on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration Building located at 12 SE 1st Street, downtown Gainesville.

Items of interest at the Regular Meeting include:

11. HB 5301 Medicaid: Request to Join Lawsuit Filed by the Florida Association of Counties to Challenge House Bill 5301 (County Contributions to Medicaid)

13. Presentation of Intersection of SW 61st Street at SW 20th Ave

Items of interest at the Public Hearing include:

19. Archer Braid Trail Update

The Board will hear public comments on this subject at this meeting.  It is the intent of the recommended action for this item that staff will not make a presentation at this meeting.  The recommendation is that once the 30% plans are completed, staff will convene a workshop with stakeholders to review and discuss the actual potential impact/benefits of the Archer-Braid route.  The plan and alternatives will then go back through the formal County Commission and Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization's (MTPO) process.

20. Transportation System Surtax: Interlocal Agreements and Distribution Splits of Estimated Revenue for Charter County Transportation System Surtax
