SW 61st Street and SW 20th Avenue Intersection Public Workshop

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Public Works Department invites residents to attend an upcoming public workshop regarding the intersection of SW 61st Street and SW 20th Avenue, on October 18, 2012, at 5:30 p.m. at the Southwest Advocacy Group (SWAG) Family Resource Center (807 SW 64th Terrace, Gainesville). 

The intersection is currently a three-way intersection. There is one stop sign on SW 61st Street, and no pedestrian crosswalks or sidewalks in the immediate area.  The proposed intersection is a signalized intersection with left and right turn lanes on SW 61st Street, two through lanes on SW 20th Avenue, pedestrian crosswalks, and sidewalks on SW 20th Avenue to Interstate 75 and to Tower Road.

The intersection and the SW 20th/24th Avenue sidewalk project will be brought to Alachua County Commission on Oct 23, 2012, for approval of right-of-way acquisition and for bidding of the project after the design is completed.
