ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Cooperative Extension Office is pleased to announce the Third Annual Alachua Home Grown Open House on Saturday, June 1, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Alachua County Cooperative Extension Office (2800 NE 39 Avenue, Gainesville).
Value Added Impacts of Agriculture in Alachua County are valued at $255.4 million. Agricultural products in Alachua County range from beef cattle, vegetables, fruits, nurseries, goats, chickens, and more.
Classes will be available at the open house to teach about locally grown food, as well as producing and growing food. Classes include: Canning, Attracting Pollinators, and Vegetable Gardening: Integrated Pest Management.
