Memorial Day Program

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - On Monday, May 27, 2013, Alachua County and the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health Care System will hold the annual Memorial Day Program. The event is hosted by, and conducted at the Forest Meadows Cemetery (3700 SE Hawthorne Road, Gainesville). The event begins at 11 a.m., and is free and open to the public.

The guest speaker is US Congressman, Ted Yoho. The ceremony includes: a presentation of colors by the Young Marines, reading of proclamations from Alachua County and the City of Gainesville, a rifle salute by the Korean War Veterans Chapter 267 and other special music and honors, wreath placements, and the sounding of Taps. 

Immediately following the ceremony there will be a free barbecue luncheon provided by the Forest Meadow Cemetery, owners: Jon C. Thomas Family.
