City of Newberry Issues Precautionary Boil Water Notice

ALACHUA COUNTY —The City of Newberry has reported a water line break in their system. A precautionary boiled water notice is in effect until further notice for the following affected area: South of SW 15 Avenue, west of SW 254 Street east of SW 260th Street, and north of SW 21st Place. Residents of the City of Newberry who live in the affected area should use one of the following strategies to ensure safe drinking water:

  • Boil the water before use, holding it in a rolling boil for one minute.
  • Disinfect it by adding 8 drops (1/8 teaspoon) of plain unscented household bleach per gallon of water, and then let it stand for 30 minutes. If the water is cloudy after 30 minutes, repeat the procedure.
  • Use bottled water for drinking.
