D-Day Veterans Group invites public to new WW II memorial dedication

ALACHUA COUNTY - The D-Day Veterans Group of Alachua County invites the public to the dedication of their new veterans memorial on Thursday, November 8 at 10:45 a.m.  This new memorial is dedicated to all WW II veterans and is located next to Fire Station #4, 10 SW 36th St. in Gainesville.  Speakers include veterans who served in both the Pacific and European Theater of Operations, including D-day veteran Frank Towers, who served in the U.S. Army.

 

Jim Lynch, Director of Alachua County Veterans Services, commented on the new memorial, stating, "We cannot honor our 'Greatest Generation' enough.  In my opinion they saved the American way of life we all enjoy today."
