ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Commissioner Paula Delaney has agreed to serve on the Department of Community Affairs' and the Department of Transportation's Mobility Fee Stakeholders' Policy Committee (Mobility fees serve as an alternate funding source for transit, bikeways, and sidewalks, in addition to roadway capacity). The Committee is comprised of key public agency and private sector representatives who will address the policy implications of proposed mobility fee methodology alternatives.
The Department of Community Affairs and the Department of Transportation have entered into contracts to study and develop mobility fee methodologies. The Department of Community Affairs contracted with the Center for Urban Transportation Research; and the Department of Transportation contracted with Dr. Ruth Steiner of the University of Florida. Since each of the studies will take a slightly different approach to mobility fees and the calculation of vehicle miles traveled, the agencies agreed to create a joint stakeholders group to review the results of both studies and provide input and advice on the policy implications of the proposed methodology alternatives.
