Alachua County to Hold Annual Veterans Day Celebration

ALACHUA COUNTY - Alachua County Veterans Services and the veteran community of Alachua County will hold their Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, November 11 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Alachua County Veterans Memorial in Kanapaha Park, on the corner of SW 75th St. and SW 41st Pl. in Gainesville.
 
The celebration will feature "Music in the Park" provided by Ft. Clarke Middle School Band.  There will be a special tribute to World War II Veterans.  Also, World War II era AT-6 airplanes will fly over the memorial while members of the UF Falling Gators Skydiving Club parachute down with color smoke canisters strapped to their legs and carry down the U.S. flag.
 
Additional features include a military reenactment, helicopter static displays, wreath laying ceremony, patriotic music, food concessions, and the Life South Blood Mobile.
 
Members of the Gainesville High School Junior Naval ROTC program will sell a hot BBQ lunch.
