Free Weather Spotter Classes

Weather SpotterALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Fire Rescue’s Emergency Management division encourages residents to be prepared for severe weather by taking a “Weather Spotter” class from the National Weather Service (NWS). The NWS Jacksonville office is offering on-line Weather Spotter training beginning January 9, 2015. The class is free, but requires registration.

According to Emergency Management Director David Donnelly, “Even with advancements in technology, such as Doppler radar, government officials still rely on a network of trained volunteers to be their eyes and ears on the ground and to provide better weather watch and warning services.” He continued, “You can be the one to make a difference and be an asset to our community.”
