ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The public is invited to join the Alachua County Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) Advisory Council for its 19th annual Rock-a-thon, on Friday, May 8, 2015. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the front porch of the Cracker Barrel restaurant (4001 SW 43rd Street, just West of I-75 on Archer Road).
FGP members and local celebrities will keep rocking chairs in motion to raise money and public awareness of the program.
This is a fundraising event. Donations are made on behalf of the rockers with all proceeds going to FGP to support training and recognition events.
The FGP provides volunteer opportunities for economically disadvantaged seniors 55 years of age and older to work one-on-one with special needs children in elementary schools, Head Start Programs, day care centers and after school programs throughout Alachua County.
