Kanapaha Park Renamed Veterans Memorial Park

Wednesday, July 15, 2015 4:15 PM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – At the July 14, 2015 Alachua County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, the Alachua County Commission voted to waive their facilities naming policy and passed a resolution to change the name of “Kanapaha Park” (located at 7400 S.W. 41st Place, Gainesville), to “Veterans Memorial Park.” The name change honors and recognizes all Alachua County armed services veterans who have sacrificed to protect their country.

This change will also resolve addressing confusion between Kanapaha Park and Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. Both facilities are owned by the County and are often confused by internet search engines and GPS devices.
