ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - In an effort to lower employee healthcare costs, the Alachua County Commission is opening an employee health and wellness center. The center opens on January 4, 2016, and will offer primary care/general medicine, urgent care, preventive care, physicals/well-woman exams, in-house labs, pharmacy services, x-ray services, immunization services; disease management and allergy injections and vaccinations for employees, members/dependents, and retirees in the County health plan.

The Alachua County Employee Health and Wellness Center is located at 4340 West Newberry Road, Gainesville. The County has contracted with AC Medical Provider, Inc. TPA, to operate the center.

“The healthcare industry is quickly changing and it is important for us to adapt,” said Alachua County Risk Management and Employee Benefits Director Ray Gulhar. “If we can provide quality health care to our employees and their families ... reducing our overall costs, it is a win-win situation for everyone, including our taxpayers.”

The anticipated savings to the County’s Self-Insurance Fund will be approximately $900 thousand the first year.

The AC Medical Provider has hired Dr. Bernstein, Medical Director, to operate the health center. The provider has also hired the medical professional and support staffs. Staffing will adjust based on the migration of the patients.
