Trashformations Recycled Art Competition Winners

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL- The fourteenth annual Trashformations student recycled art competition was held the evening of Friday, November 16, 2012, at the Florida Museum of Natural History.  All artwork entered in the contest was comprised of 70% or more recycled/recyclable/reused materials.  The Alachua County Office of Waste Alternatives and the Florida Museum of Natural History are pleased to announce this year’s winners:

Middle School

First: Lauren Gordon “Peacoke”

Second: Leo and Patrick Dickinson “Where should we go...?!”

Third: Sarah Boon “Beauty in the Beast”

Honorable Mention: Jámm Hostetler and Lev Ettinger “Helping Hands”

Waste Watchers Award: Jámm Hostetler and Lev Ettinger “Helping Hands”

Museum Award: Ryan Concannon “Desert Treasures”

Sea Turtle Conservancy Award: Shay Brager “Busy Pond”

High School

First: Hannah Liu “Aldrech”

Second: Sopicha Vongvanij “The Sea Turtle's Protector”

Third: Monica Coker for the highschool students of Sidney Lanier “Recycled Gator”

Honorable Mention: Jackie Siegel “Forbidden Music”

Waste Watchers Award: Zayna Akins, Takeria Brand & Rayna Bradley “Medusa and child”

Museum Award: Olivia Bloom “The Plastic Crane”

Sea Turtle Conservancy Award: Sopicha Vongvanij “The Sea Turtle's Protector”

College

First: Victoria Heuston “Tide Wash”

Second: Giang Lien Pham “The Strongest Tower”

Third: Sorina Vaziri “Hip Hop is Dead”

Honorable Mention: Ben Vongvanij “The Golden Sea Turtle”
