Free Dog Adoptions Available

Thursday, February 23, 2017 11:15 AM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Animal Services is currently renovating the dog kennels at their headquarters (3400 N.E. 53rd Avenue, Gainesville). For this reason, they are over their capacity of adoptable dogs. They are offering free adoptions for all dogs at the facility until the renovations are complete.

Each dog available for adoption is examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped before leaving Animal Services.

“Animal Services continues to have a full house,” says Alachua County Animal Services Shelter Supervisor Jane Grantman. “If you are interested in adding a dog to your family, there is no better time than now to adopt. Please help us save the animals in our care.”

Alachua County Animal Services is the County’s open admissions shelter and are responsible for taking in stray, injured, neglected and abused dogs. Unfortunately, the number of dogs that they are taking in is higher than the number of dogs that they are adopting out.

The Animal Services Headquarters is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
