ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Florida Department of Health in Alachua County is pleased to launch the Alachua County Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). The plan was created with the underlying vision of making Alachua County a community where everyone can be healthy and is representative of Alachua County’s diverse population.

“This plan is the result of 18 months of work by community organizations and residents who came together to make health a priority in Alachua County”, stated Paul Myers, Administrator of the Alachua County Health Department (ACHD). “This ambitious, yet realistic plan reflects the collaboration and dedication of numerous community groups and individuals in Alachua County. Health has different meanings to different people and this comprehensive plan embraces that ideal.”

The CHIP includes goals and objectives for four years and focuses on specific issues ranging from teen pregnancy to oral health. The two overarching goals identified are: 1) residents of Alachua County will be able to access comprehensive primary care and preventive services and 2) promote wellness among all Alachua County residents. The ACHD and its partners are committed to carrying out the goals and objectives set forth by the plan to continue progressing in the areas of healthcare and well being in the county.
