Know Before You Go​

  • ​Longleaf Flatwoods Preserve is open and operational.

    As temperatures rise and summer weather conditions become more challenging, please use extra caution when hiking on our preserves and trails. Bring plenty of water, wear light-colored clothing, use sun protection, and plan hikes during the cooler morning hours whenever possible.

    Your safety is our priority. Enjoy the outdoors responsibly and help us protect our natural areas for everyone to enjoy.​

    This preserve was purchased with Alachua County Forever funds and is jointly owned with St. John's Water Management District. The 2,742-acre Preserve contains 6.25 miles of unpaved trails through pine flatwoods and cypress swamp. All trails are accessed through the main parking area on CR 235. A primitive group campsite is available for reservation (contact St. John's Water Management District for information and reservations).

    No picnic or restroom facilities.
