8-24-20 Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization Meeting

Image of Downtown GainesvilleALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO) for the Gainesville Urbanized Area will conduct its Regular Business Meeting at 5 p.m. on August 24, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, this will be a virtual public meeting. Please note that this virtual meeting includes a Public Hearing on the draft Year 2045 Transportation Cost Feasible Plan.  The public may attend virtually through Cox Channel 12, Facebook, or the County’s Video on Demand website. The Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization is responsible for the continuing, comprehensive and cooperative urban transportation planning program for the Gainesville Metropolitan Area. This planning program is required in order to receive federal and state funds for transportation projects. Voting members consist of the five Alachua County Commissioners and the Mayor and the six City of Gainesville Commissioners.  Non-voting members are The University of Florida President’s designee, a Rural Advisor designated by the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization and the Florida Department of Transportation District 2 Secretary’s designee.  Staff services are provided by the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council.

The public may submit comments to the MTPO by calling into the public comment message line when prompted to call during the meeting. Public comment will be taken by telephone for all non-ministerial items on which the MTPO votes. Once public comment is opened for an item under discussion, please call 929-205-6099 and enter meeting code 273-174-8038.  Callers will be put in a queue and prompted when it is their turn to speak. TO AVOID FEEDBACK, SPEAKERS MUST TURN DOWN THEIR MEETING SOUND WHEN ADDRESSING THE COMMISSION. In addition, the MTPO will open phone lines for one general public comment session for the public to discuss items not on the Commission agenda. The MTPO will allow up to a total of 30 minutes of citizen comments on each item opened for public comment, and a total of up to 30 minutes of general public comment. The public is encouraged to submit any written or photographic documents prior to the meeting to escalante@ncfrpc.org.

There is an opportunity for public comment for each regular agenda meeting item during the Virtual Regular Business Meeting.
