The Alachua County Commission will conduct a Special Meeting on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. The meeting begins at 10 a.m., in the Grace Knight Conference Room, located on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration Building (12 S.E. 1st Street, downtown Gainesville). This meeting will include a discussion of strategies for affordable housing from the Affordable Housing Workgroup, as part of the County Commission’s ongoing review and updating of the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan.
The meeting agenda includes:
- Southwest 62nd Blvd Project County Incentive Grant Program (CIGP) funding
- Nuisance abatement discussion
- Strategies for affordable housing from Affordable Housing Workgroup - The County Commission will receive a presentation and report on affordable housing strategies developed by the Alachua County Affordable Housing Workgroup. On June 5, 2018, the Board directed staff to invite stakeholders interested in affordable housing to participate in a workgroup to develop strategies and recommendations for affordable housing. The workgroup met several times over the summer and developed a menu of affordable housing strategies for review, discussion, and Board direction to staff in drafting policy updates to the Housing Element of the Comprehensive Plan.
- Discussion on the proposed purchase of Serenola Forest
- Consideration to fund 7.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) positions and equipment for Stormwater Maintenance
