Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Seeks Input for Incentives and Recommendations Report

The Alachua County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) is holding a meeting on September 21, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., to solicit input for their Incentives and Recommendation Report (IRR) and to receive the Alachua County Housing Summit report. The meeting is at the Alachua County Administration Building (12 S.E. 1st Street, Gainesville) in the Grace Knight Conference Room.

Residents not attending the meeting can submit input by sending an email to housing@alachuacounty.us.

Alachua County must submit an Incentives and Recommendation Report (IRR) annually as part of their State Housing Imitative partnership program (SHIP program).

AHAC reviews the established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and the adopted local government comprehensive plan of the appointing local government. AHAC recommends specific actions or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value. The recommendations may include the modification or repeal of existing policies, procedures, ordinances, regulations, or plan provisions; the creation of exceptions applicable to affordable housing; or the adoption of new policies, procedures, regulations, ordinances, or plan provisions, including recommendations to amend the local government comprehensive plan and corresponding regulations, ordinances, and other policies.
