Alachua County is pleased to announce its recent recognition by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) with the 2018 Certificate of Excellence in Performance Management. The recognition is for exceeding the standards established by the ICMA for the identification and public reporting of key outcome measures, surveying both residents and employees, and the pervasiveness of performance management in the organization’s culture.
According to the ICMA, “Performance management is a bedrock principle of professional local government management.” The certificate program recognizes communities for their leadership in continuous improvement, data collection and analysis, transparency, and community engagement through performance analysis. Certificates are awarded based upon established criteria in the following areas:
- Reporting of performance data to the public
- Data verification efforts to ensure data reliability
- Use of performance data in strategic planning, process improvement, and operational decision making
- Commitment to tracking and reporting key outcomes
- Training, networking, surveying, and benchmarking
Alachua County is among 29 jurisdictions nationwide to receive the 2018 Certificate of Excellence – the highest level awarded by the ICMA. This is the fourth consecutive year that Alachua County has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Performance Management.
Alachua County Interim County Manager Michele L. Lieberman said, “I am once again honored to accept this award on behalf of Alachua County. It is the County’s responsibility to take the Commission’s vision and translate it into actions that benefit our citizens and our community. This award reinforces our efforts to be productive and responsive while also operating a data-driven and transparent organization.”
The 2018 ICMA Certificate of Excellence in Performance Management will be presented at the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners’ Regular Meeting on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.
