Alachua County is now accepting applications from individuals interested in serving on the Children’s Trust of Alachua County. This trust will be created if a majority of voters supports the November 6, 2018 ballot referendum. If created, the Children’s Trust of Alachua County will be an Independent Special District with taxing authority empowered to provide preventive, developmental, and treatment services for local children. Members appointed to the Children’s Trust will use a gap analysis to identify specific types of programs, establish a budget, and determine the millage rate needed.
In accordance with Florida Statute, the Children’s Trust of Alachua County Board will be comprised of ten members, five of which will be appointed by the Governor’s Office from a list of names submitted by the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners. Based upon the number of applications received by the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, up to 15 individual names may be submitted to the Governor for consideration.
Visit the Children’s Trust of Alachua County website.
