April Environmental Horticulture Programs

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental Horticulture Programs for April 2018. These programs are being offered by the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville) unless otherwise indicated.

Using Plants Therapeutically – April 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Newberry Library Branch (110 S Seaboard Drive, Newberry) by Dr. Charles Guy, Professor Emeritus of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry at the University of Florida

Growing plants can reduce stress, increase physical activity, and reduce blood pressure. Participants learn about the therapeutic aspects of growing plants, and how to incorporate it into a life.

There is no cost for the class. It is limited to 40 participants.

Pollinators in Your Yard: Meet Them & Keep Them – April 18, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

This program explains types of pollination, flower structure, and the process of pollination. In addition, participants learn about the animals and insects, from bats to bees that do the work of pollinating fruit, flowers, vegetables, and trees.

There is no cost for the class. It is limited to 40 participants.
