Alachua County Animal Services (ACAS) and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers are offering free pet adoptions to those donating blood on Saturday, February 17, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Animal Services Headquarters (3400 N.E. 53rd Ave, Gainesville). Blood donors receive a voucher, which is good for a waived-fee adoption on any pet at ACAS. These vouchers are transferrable and do not expire.
ACAS Shelter Supervisor Jane Grantman says, “Donate blood with LifeSouth at ACAS, and adopt a Valentine for free!”
Blood donors must be 17 or older, weigh 110 pounds or more and show ID.
Pet adopters must be 18 or older and show ID with proof of current address. If there are already pets in the home, the potential adopter must show proof that owned animals are current on rabies and license. All dogs and cats available for adoption are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped before leaving Animal Services.
