At the July 11, 2017, County Commission Meeting, the Alachua County Budget and Fiscal Services Department was recognized for receiving Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Alachua County FY17 Budget.
The award reflects the commitment of the County and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the budget award, the entity had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for an effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. The GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting. Alachua County’s OMB Office has received this award for the last 24 years.
Alachua County Budget and Fiscal Services Director Tommy Crosby said, “I am proud of the professional and capable staff in the Office of Management Budget, and their tireless dedication to excellence as represented by the award.”
