Eco Chase Challenge – The Race Against Waste

The Alachua County Office of Waste Alternatives invites residents to participate in the “Eco Chase Challenge – The Race Against Waste!” Small teams (up to five people) are encouraged to join this multi-month scavenger hunt competition. The competition offers over $2,000 in cash and prizes. There is no registration fee, but participants must register online before February 10, 2023.

The Eco Chase Challenge – The Race Against Waste! is designed to encourage waste reduction, proper recycling, and conservation awareness. Participants will discover the many resources and community partners that make Alachua County an eco-friendly place to live.

The Challenge is open to all Alachua County Residents, with a maximum of 50 teams (up to five linked smartphones per team). Each team competes to earn points by submitting photos and videos of themselves at various checkpoints, answering trivia questions, and completing missions to stay ahead of their competition. The Challenge begins in February, with missions continuing through April 2023.

“Do you accept the Challenge?” asks Alachua County Office of Waste Alternatives Public Education Program Coordinator Alanna Carinio. “Join us for the Eco Chase Challenge – the race to end waste!”
