Edward Crapo Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from International Association of Assessing Officers

The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) is pleased to announce that Edward Crapo, AAS, is the recipient of the 2017 Professional Development Lifetime Achievement Award. Crapo has been a member of IAAO since 1981 and is the Alachua County, Florida, Property Appraiser.

The Professional Development Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an IAAO member who has dedicated him or herself to IAAO through education, instruction and the Professional Designation Program for a minimum of 25 years. Crapo won this award due to his leadership in IAAO and his more than 30 years of dedication to professionalism. He is an IAAO Past President and has worked with numerous committees, including serving as chair of the Professional Development Committee. He has spoken at conferences for IAAO and other professional associations and been an industry consultant in the U.S. and around the world. First elected as Alachua County Property Appraiser in 1980, Crapo has continually served in this position since then and guided the county to be the first ever recipient of the IAAO Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration in 2004.

This prestigious award was presented during the Awards and Recognition Ceremony at IAAO's 83rd Annual International Conference on Assessment Administration held Sept. 24-27, 2017, in Las Vegas. IAAO's Awards Program recognizes exceptional achievements in various areas of the valuation profession. Awards are given in over 20 categories ranging from jurisdictional public information programs to research on property appraisal and tax policy.

Founded in 1934, IAAO sets the standards for best practices in mass appraisal and property tax administration. IAAO currently serves more than 7,300 members globally with the world's premiere assessment library, professional designations, publications and educational resources. The IAAO mission is to promote excellence in property appraisal, assessment administration and property tax policy through innovative professional development, education, research and technical assistance.
