Hurricane Michael Update #2 Schools Remaining Open

Following a briefing with Alachua County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service, the plan is for Alachua County Public Schools to remain open on Wednesday, October 10. The district will continue to monitor the storm closely and consult with county officials. There are no plans to open shelters. All Alachua County offices will be open during regular office hours.

Confidence is high in a northward track to the Florida Panhandle across southwest Georgia to central Georgia, Wednesday through Wednesday night. No warnings or watches are expected for Alachua County. The current forecast is for winds beginning approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 39 mph Wednesday evening. Alachua County is expected to receive approximately 1.5 to 2 inches of rainfall from the storm. These forecasts are subject to change and the County will continue to send updates as needed.
