May Family and Consumer Sciences Program

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Family and Consumer Sciences program for May 2018. This program is offered by Martha B. Maddox, County Extension Agent IV at the UF/IFAS Extension Office (2800 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville).

Fresh Start – May 22, from 10 a.m. to noon, and repeated again from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This workshop is for those who have had trouble with their finances. The Fresh Start workshop helps develop healthier financial patterns, and helps with opening a new account at a bank or credit union. At the end of the course, those who pass a financial management test earn a certificate to open an account with a bank or credit union participating in the Fresh Start program.  Fresh Start covers the basics of financial management, from creating a spending plan to preventing identify theft. Attendees also get hands on practice balancing a checkbook and mapping out a personal budget. The program goal is to help people make a habit of knowing where their money is going.

The registration fee is $25.00 (with two options to register). Participants can register through the mail by completing an application and mailing with money order to:
