The Alachua County Planning Commission will meet on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Jack Durrance Auditorium (room 209) of the County Administration Building located at 12 S.E. 1st Street downtown Gainesville. This meeting includes a review of the draft updates to the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan related to public facilities, greenways master plan, community health, energy, local foods, equity, economic opportunity, and intergovernmental coordination issues identified in the Evaluation and Appraisal of the Comprehensive Plan.

ZOM-07-18 (Rezoning) – This is a request by Clay Sweger of eda, inc., agent, for JR and Athelie Sanders, owners, to rezone from ‘PD’ (Planned Development) district to ‘R-1A’ (Single Family Residential) district. The site is approximately 37.2 acres and has a future land use designation of Low Density Residential (1-4 dwelling units/acre). The rezoning, if approved, will permit single-family residential development of no more than 149 units on the parcel. It is located on tax parcel number 04229-000-000 at 1906 N.W. 143rd Street. Alachua County Comprehensive Plan Update - The Planning Commission, serving as the Local Planning Agency (LPA), will review draft updates to the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan related to public facilities, greenways master plan, community health, energy, local foods, equity, economic opportunity, and intergovernmental coordination issues identified in the Evaluation and Appraisal of the Comprehensive Plan. These draft updates relate to various elements of the Plan including the Economic, Community Health, Future Land Use, Public School Facilities, Conservation and Open Space, Recreation, Solid Waste, Capital Improvements, Energy, and Intergovernmental Coordination Elements.
This meeting is part of an ongoing series of meetings with the LPA and the Board of County Commissioners as part of the evaluation and update of the County’s Comprehensive Plan that is completed approximately every seven years. At this meeting, the LPA will provide input on the draft policy updates. The draft policy updates will then be considered at public hearings of the LPA and Board of County Commissioners beginning in early 2019.
