Alachua County is seeking volunteers to fill a vacancy on the Regional Transit System (RTS) Advisory Board. The current vacancy is for a citizen who is either a Chamber of Commerce representative, member of the environmental community, or member of the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization Citizen's Advisory Committee (applicants can be in more than one category). Those interested should submit applications by November 15, 2018.
The duties of the Regional Transit System Advisory Board are to advise on all matters relating to public transit development in the City of Gainesville and Alachua County. This includes developing and analyzing policies concerning the operation of the regional transit system, developing approaches for financing the regional transit system on a long-term basis, reviewing ridership, routes, rates, and other related matters. The Board also considers questions referred to it by the City and County Commissions. The Board is comprised of nine total members serving three-year terms.
