The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture Programs for September 2018. These programs are being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez, Commercial Horticulture Agent, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville).
Green Industries Best Management Practices (Class in Spanish) – September 6, from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is the only Spanish training available for GI-BMP in this area for 2018.
Florida law states that all commercial fertilizer applicators must have a certificate from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). To get this certificate, each commercial applicator must be trained in the GI-BMPs and receive a certificate of completion for UF/IFAS and FDEP. CEUs will be available.
Participants must register online. The registration fee is $25.00. Participants must register by September 3, and there are no refunds for registration fees.
Las Mejores Practicas de Manejo de las Industrias Verdes – September 6, from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ley de Florida establece que todos los aplicadores de fertilizante comercial deben tener un certificado de FDACS. Beekeeping – Preparing for Winter – September 22, from 9 a.m. to noon
This class is part of a series designed for the beginner and intermediate beekeepers. The classes are scheduled to help participants manage the needs of their hive throughout the year. This workshop features information on preparing beehives for the winter season including inspection, management, and storage. Attendees will be working on hive assembly and repair.
Participants must register online. The registration fee is $10.00. Participants must register by September 18, and there are no refunds for registration fees.
