The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the Fourth Annual 4-H Little Run on the Prairie 5K on December 2, 2017, at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park (100 Savannah Blvd., Micanopy). Registration is from 7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The race begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by an awards ceremony at 10 a.m.
The 4-H Little Run on the Prairie 5K is a trail run through the historic and pristine Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. It is a community and family orientated event, and is organized by a teen/adult partnership.
Alachua County 4-H (along with the Florida Food Smart Family Grant) is offering a run club in preparation for the event. The run club impacts over 500 youth (with ten hours of healthy living “learn by doing” teaching throughout the year). This event is the capstone event for the healthy living 4-H initiative in Alachua County.
The money raised through the event goes towards 4-H summer camp scholarships for special interest, residential, and County day camps. Last year, healthy living was promoted at each summer camp event. After the race, there will be a healthy living presentation.
Prizes, snacks, T-shirt, and entry to the park are all included with the $25.00 (adult) or $15.00 (youth) entry fee. Participants must register by November 17 to guarantee a T-shirt. Participants can register online.
