Victim to Survivor Crime Support Group

Alachua County Victim Services & Rape Crisis Center is offering a guided discussion group for victims of crime. The group called “Victim to Survivor” provides a supportive and compassionate space for victims of any type of crime to come together, share their experience, explore their feelings, and discuss topics related to trauma. This is an open group and will meet bi-weekly on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A certified Victim Services & Rape Crisis Center counselor facilitates the group. It is free of charge, but participants must register in advance. Walk-in registrations are held the first Thursday of each month from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Alachua County Community Support Services (218 S.E. 24th St, Gainesville). Participants can also schedule a registration time with one of our facilitators by calling the numbers below.

“The opportunity to talk about their experience in a supportive and accepting atmosphere helps victims of crime create closure for those unseen wounds,” said Alachua County Victim Advocate Counselor and Elder Specialist Amy K. Cummings-Aponte.

For more information or to register, contact Victim Advocate Counselors Amy K. Cummings-Aponte at 352-264-6769 or Katie Allen at 352-264-6765.
