URGENT NOTICE ABOUT SCREENING PROCESS CHANGES
Please be aware that we have changed our screening process.
Please read the "Screening Process" section below for more information.
Metamorphosis is a long-term, community-based, residential treatment program for adults with chronic substance dependence; many clients also have a co-occurring mental health disorder. The program is 6-12 months in residential treatment. Length of treatment is based on an individualized treatment plan and progression towards change. Clients may then transition to transitional housing, and pending availability, clients may remain in transitional housing upon graduating the program. This can be a requirement to assist in their transition into the community. Those who graduate also have unlimited aftercare services which is recommended for a minimum of one year following residential treatment.
Adult (18+) men and women who have a chronic history of substance abuse.
Metamorphosis is a Therapeutic Community that offers a wide array of therapeutic interventions and activities. The program offers individual, group, and family counseling in a structured, therapeutic setting. Treatment is divided into several phases, which progress gradually toward re-entering the community. Therapy and treatment planning is provided by trained clinicians and also includes recovery based groups, anger management, parenting, communication building, financial skills, and independent living skills. Family Group is offered weekly for the client’s support system to better understand addiction and recovery. Family or Couple’s Counseling is also offered. Groups are offered approximately three times per day and individual therapy is based on client needs. Metamorphosis is not a 12 step program, however, NA and AA do provide meetings weekly at the facility.
After approximately four to five months, the client is expected to obtain employment while still living at the facility and continuing with treatment. Individuals work to become productive, drug-free members of society by obtaining and maintaining employment, participating in self-help support groups and acquiring safe and affordable housing. Following the residential treatment component, clients may participate in the transitional housing component if housing or community re-entry is an issue. Aftercare services are available to all graduates of the residential program for an unlimited time.
All potential clients must be screened and approved for admission. They must be: self-motivated for treatment, and have no history of sex offenses and/or pattern of violent crimes/behavior. People with co-occurring substance dependence and mental health disorders will be evaluated for compatibility with the structure of the program.
Individuals can be referred from a variety of community providers including, but not limited to, all levels of probation, court providers, DCF, attorneys, medical providers, other mental health or substance use providers, or through self-referral.
Metamorphosis will be doing screenings through videoconferencing. If you require a face-to-face screening, you will need to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test before your screening. You will be required to have your temperature taken and to wear a mask to this appointment.
Please contact Mimi Culpepper or (352) 381-0153 to schedule your appointment.

There is no fee charged to clients until they reach the employment level and have begun to receive income. At that point, clients will be assessed 50% of their net earned income. The 50% assessment will continue until the client secures living arrangements in the community and graduates. There is no charge for the aftercare treatment component.
