5-14-19 Commission Regular Meeting

​The Alachua County Commission will hold its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. The meeting begins at 11:30 a.m., and will recess after the daytime agenda items are complete. The meeting will reconvene at 5:01 p.m. The meeting is in the Jack Durrance Auditorium (Room 209), located on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration Building (12 S.E. 1st Street, downtown Gainesville).

Daytime items of interest include:

  • Approval of a Proclamation declaring May 19, through May 25, 2019, as "Emergency Medical Services Week" in Alachua County, FL 
  • Approval of a Proclamation declaring May 19, through May 25, 2019, as "Public Works Week" in Alachua County, FL 
  • Approval of a Proclamation declaring May 27, 2019, as "Memorial Day" in Alachua County, FL 
  • Approval of a Proclamation declaring May 2019, as "Mental Health Awareness Month" in Alachua County, FL 
  • Appointment of four persons to the Alachua County Historical Commission 
  • Economic Development Advisory Committee appointment 
  • Health Facilities Authority appointment 
  • Request international travel approval for Dr. Taylor Clem, UF/IFAS Extension - Alachua County to attend the Land Use and Water Quality International Conference in Denmark as a presenter 
  • Placement of Conservation Easements on the Registry of Protected Public Places 
  • Presentation and discussion on US 441 Linear Park through Paynes Prairie 
  • Charter Review Commission application


Evening items of interest include:

  • Approval of a Proclamation declaring May 2019, as "National Drug Court Month" in Alachua County, FL 
  • Presentation of a ceremonial $100,000 check by Rotary Clubs of Gainesville Foundation for the Veterans Memorial Park Splash Park improvements   
  • North Central Florida Regional Planning Council presentation

There are four public comment opportunities during the Regular Meeting, which enables citizens to speak to items, not on the agenda. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting. It will be available to view live on Facebook, Cox Channel 12, and the County’s Video on Demand website.
