9-15-21 Planning Commission Meeting

The Alachua County Planning Commission will meet on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the Alachua County Administration Building (12 S.E. 1st Street, Gainesville). This meeting begins at 6 p.m. The public may offer comments virtually and in person. Masks are required regardless of vaccination status.

The public may view the meeting on the County's Video on Demand website. 

For the public who attend virtually, once the public comment is opened for an item under discussion, please call 929-505-6099 (enter meeting code 273 174 8038). Callers will be put in a queue, and prompted when it is their turn to speak. TO AVOID FEEDBACK, SPEAKERS MUST TURN DOWN THE VOLUME ON THEIR DEVICE WHEN ADDRESSING THE DEVELOPMENT REVIEW COMMITTEE. Callers should state their names and limit comments to two minutes. When prompted for in-person comment, in-person participants should follow the direction of the Chair to participate.

Items for the Planning Commission Meeting:

ZOS-01-21 (Alachua County Fire Rescue Station 80 Special Use Permit) – This is a request by Craig Brashier of CHW, Inc., agent, for Alachua County, owner, for a special use permit to allow a fire/rescue station (Station 80) in the Agriculture zoning district. The facility would provide emergency services to the citizens of Alachua County. The site has a future land use designation of Low-Density Residential (1 to 4 dwelling units per acre) and is approximately 2.88 acres, located on tax parcel number 06666-000-000 at 10404 S.W. 24th Avenue.  For more information, contact Alachua County Planner Mehdi Benkhatar at 352-374-5249 or mbenkhatar@alachuacounty.us.

CPA-05-21 (Recreation Future Land Use Policies Large Scale Comprehensive Plan Text Amendment) – This is a County-initiated amendment to the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan: 2019-2040 to amend the Future Land Use Element by adding Objectives and Policies relating to the Recreation Land Use designation. CPA-06-21 (Property Rights Element Large Scale Comprehensive Plan Text Amendment) – This is a County-initiated amendment to the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan to add a Property Rights Element to the Plan in accordance with the new state requirements under Section 163.3177(6)(i), Florida Statutes as enacted through House Bill 59 (2021). The proposed Property Rights Element would specifically provide that private property rights shall be considered in local decision making.
