Alachua County Launches Food Hub Feasibility Study Microsite

Alachua County has launched a new Food Hub Feasibility Study webpage to keep residents informed as the study moves forward and to provide updates throughout the process.

The microsite highlights the Fresh Food Pathways Program: Food Hub Feasibility Study, a 30-month initiative examining how a community-based food hub could strengthen the local food system, support area farmers and expand access to fresh, local food.

As part of the study, the county has contracted with New Venture Advisors, a national food systems consulting firm, to assess market demand, infrastructure needs and opportunities to better connect local agricultural producers with schools, hospitals and other institutional food buyers.

“By supporting the needs of agricultural producers and expanding access to fresh, local food, Alachua County is investing in the long-term health and resilience of the community,” said Bailey McClellan, the county’s agricultural economic development coordinator.

The webpage will serve as a central resource for project information and ongoing updates as the study progresses.

Residents can also sign up to receive email notifications directly from the page and explore various links to relevant presentations, documents and see important upcoming dates.
