Alachua County Talks Highlights 200 Years of Alachua County History

As Alachua County’s yearlong Bicentennial celebration ends, a new episode of Alachua County Talks is now available, featuring Alachua County Historical Commission members Trey Asner and Ashley Wood.

In the episode, Asner and Wood explore Alachua County’s rich history, from the Indigenous tribes who first populated the area to the arts, nature, and culture that shape the community today.

The show is available to watch now on YouTube. It is also available on Alachua County’s AC TV app on Roku, Amazon Fire, and Apple TV, and premieres on Community12 TV (Cox Cable) on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.

“Our Discover 200 celebration, which kicked off with the music festival in January 2025, has been an amazing series of events and acknowledgements. From festivals, exhibits, and proclamations to billboards, banners, and bus wraps, the celebration has been both fun and meaningful,” said Alachua County Talks host and Communications Director Mark Sexton. “I can’t think of a better way to wrap it up than with this interview with our Historical Commission members.”
