April Commercial Horticulture Program

​​The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture program for April 2025. This program is being offered by Commercial Horticulture Agent Tatiana Sanchez-Jones.

Beekeeping Series: Pest and Disease Management – April 26, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the UF/IFAS Honey Bee Research and Extension Laboratory (1881 Natural Area Drive, Gainesville)

This workshop covers the causes of honeybee colony losses, pest monitoring, and pest management. There is a special emphasis on Varroa Mites.

Live bees will be used. Participants should wear protective clothing (closed-toe shoes, long sleeves or a beekeeping suit).

The registration fee of $20.00 (plus $3.18 Eventbrite fee) includes materials and refreshments. Participants must register online by April 23. A late fee of $10.00 (plus $3.85 Eventbrite fee) will be applied after April 23, or if paying at the door. This class is limited to 30 participants. There are no refunds for the registration fees.
