Art Grant Applications Now Open

Alachua County invites local artists, artist collaborators, and not-for-profit organizations to apply for its Art Grant program for Fiscal Year 2026. Incorporated cities within the county (Alachua, Archer, Hawthorne, High Springs, LaCrosse, Micanopy, Newberry, and Waldo) are also eligible.

Grant awards are available up to:

  • $3,000 for individual artists, collaborators, and not-for-profit organizations
  • $5,000 for incorporated municipalities

Funds may be used for a variety of project-related expenses, including visual art and music supplies, advertising, studio time, equipment, printing, and more.

Applications must be submitted online by midnight on July 31, 2025.

The Arts Council of Alachua County will review applications during its September meeting and provide funding recommendations to the County Commission. Funding will be available from Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026, with all reports and reimbursement requests due by the end of the grant period.

“Thanks to support from Visit Gainesville, Alachua County, and State of the Arts license plate sales, our art grant can now award up to $14,000 this cycle,” said Arts Council Chair Carol Velasques Richardson. “These grants showcase how Alachua County uses the arts to tell its story, strengthen community connections, and address local challenges—demonstrating the profound impact of art and design on cultural vitality, wellbeing, and economic growth.”

The Art Grant was inspired by the Alachua County Commission’s adoption of the Public Arts Ordinance in May 2020. In doing so, the commission affirmed that “art shall be an integral part of Alachua County”. It established a mission for the county’s public art program: To enrich the visual environment, enhance quality of life, and raise public awareness of the value of aesthetic experiences in daily life.
