Commission Seeks Proposals for SPACE Funding

The Alachua County Commission is seeking proposals from non-profit 501(c)(3) agencies with a physical address in Alachua County. Special Projects and Community Enhancements (SPACE) is designed to leverage the expertise, resources, and services our local non-profit 501c3 organizations provide to benefit Alachua County citizens living in poverty. Non-profit agencies must have a current IRS 501(c)(3) designation by the time of application.

Proposals for delivery of poverty reduction services in the categories of Safe and Affordable Housing, Quality Child Care and Education, Adequate Food, Reliable Transportation, Quality Healthcare, Reliable Technology, and Financial Education and Stability are desired.

These funds are intended for one-time projects or capital purchases/improvements that impact one of the stated priority areas. The maximum limit for an individual proposal is $50,000.

Interested parties may access the OpenGov site by visiting the Special Projects and Community Enhancements (SPACE) link.

All FY 24-25 SPACE applications must be completed and submitted electronically via OpenGov by June 21, 2023, at 2 p.m.

No late proposals will be accepted. Proposals that do not meet the grant criteria will be rejected. Application rules and instructions, including the complete Request for Applications (RFA) document, are available on the site, and interested vendors are encouraged to read all related documents before beginning an application.

The grant period is from October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024, subject to appropriation by the Alachua County Commission.

An optional information session will be held for interested agencies. The session will cover the application process, using the application site, and tips for a successful proposal. The voluntary pre-application meeting is on Wednesday, May 31, at 2 p.m. at Alachua County Community Support Services Conference Room A (218 SE 24 Street, Gainesville).
