Other than emergency services, all Alachua County offices will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, in observance of Veterans Day.
The Veterans Day holiday will not affect residential curbside collection service for solid waste, recycling, and yard trash. The regular schedule for these services will occur on Tuesday. The transfer station at the Leveda Brown Environmental Park and the Hazardous Waste Collection Center will be open during their regularly scheduled hours.
The closures will also affect the Animal Shelter, Office of Waste Collection and the five Rural Collection Centers. They will resume their normal hours the next day.
For the shelter, resource officers respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays, to matters affecting public safety and animals in immediate danger. Citizens should dial 911 to report such emergencies on Sundays, holidays, and nightly between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. During regular hours (Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., excluding holidays).
