County Commission Chair Hutchinson Statement on Jail Incident

Alachua County Commission Chair Robert Hutchinson released the following statement:

Alachua County was recently made aware of an incident involving a detention officer’s treatment of an inmate at the Alachua County Jail. We are very concerned about the report detailing the detention officer’s treatment of this individual. Detention Officer Ulrich has been arrested and charged with battery and tampering with a witness. The County takes the safety and welfare of individuals at the jail very seriously. Investigations into this matter are ongoing and we will be carefully monitoring this case.
