Friends of Cuscowilla Seeks Applicants for Board

Do you have a passion for nature, the outdoors and making a positive impact in your community? Friends of Cuscowilla (FOC) is looking for dedicated individuals to join its Board of Directors and help support the incredible work happening at Cuscowilla Nature and Retreat Center.

As a nonprofit organization in Alachua County, FOC plays a vital role in enhancing Cuscowilla’s programs and events for people of all ages.

Since FOC’s founding in 2020, the organization has:

  • Provided over 450 camperships, allowing underserved and foster children to experience summer camp.
  • Supported environmental education by funding teacher training, stipends, and classroom materials -- benefiting over 200 teachers and their students.
  • Funded park improvements, from nature center renovations to tree-identification signs, trail signage, and butterfly gardens.

The board currently has four openings on our Board of Directors. Each board member serves a three-year term, with the option to continue beyond if desired.

This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute your time and talents to a mission-driven organization that connects youth and families with nature.

If you’re ready to get involved and make a lasting impact, please contact Assistant County Manager Gina Peebles at gpeebles@alachuacounty.us or FOC President Cynthia Holland at edugator1995@gmail.com.

Join us in shaping the future of Cuscowilla!
