Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) is celebrating the City of High Springs Fire Department (HSFR) receiving its Advanced Life Support (ALS) Service License from the Florida Department of Health.
For over a year, ACFR assisted HSFR through the challenging process of becoming an ALS agency. The designation means an improved level of service that will now be available to the citizens of High Springs and unincorporated residents in the surrounding area. Both agencies have agreed to utilize the same medical direction and protocols so that care provided throughout the County will be seamless.
The designation as an ALS station enables HSFD's Paramedics to administer lifesaving drugs in the field, as well as deploy other advanced technologies and skills not previously available to department personnel.
HSFR is hosting a brief celebration on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the High Springs Fire Department (18586 N.W. 238th Street, High Springs).
